How the number gets built
The calculator builds a rate the way an honest agency would — from the bottom up, with every piece on screen. Slide anything and the total recomputes live. Here's each part:
- Base Cost — the creator's reach priced like ad inventory: views ÷ 1,000 × your CPM, then scaled by a quality multiplier. It's the foundation every upcharge builds on.
- Quality multiplier (0.7–1.5×) — nudges the base up or down for how good the fit really is. A weak match dips below 1×; a creator her audience genuinely trusts earns a premium.
- Rights & Terms — how the brand gets to use the content. Each right you add stacks on a percentage of the base cost.
- Content Add-Ons — extra deliverables beyond the main post. Each adds a percentage of base; the content fee is a flat dollar amount.
- The total — Base + Rights + Add-Ons. That's your defensible number, with its whole build-up visible.
“Influencer pricing is a dartboard. The same creator gets quoted $275 by one marketer and $10,000 by another, because 37% of creators set their rates by guessing and everyone anchors on follower count — the one number you can buy for twenty bucks. Follower-based pricing is how you overpay for an audience that isn't there. This calculator starts from the audience that is there.”
The base starts with reach, not followers
Look at what the base cost is built from: views, not followers. Follower count is the easiest metric to fake and one of the weakest predictors of sales — you can buy 10,000 followers for about twenty dollars — so the calculator ignores it. It takes the creator's real reach, divides by 1,000, and multiplies by a CPM, the cost per thousand impressions you'd pay to reach those people with real ads. Edit the CPM to match your category; the $15 default is just a generic benchmark.
This is why the number can land below a follower-based rate card. A 238K-follower creator whose posts only reach a few thousand real people isn't worth macro money — she's worth what her actual reach is worth. Pricing on views instead of followers is the entire point, and it's the one thing a rate card never does.
Then the quality multiplier (0.7–1.5×) adjusts for fit and content strength. It's a deliberately narrow band — enough to reward a genuinely great creator or discount a weak match, not enough to let "vibes" run the price. Drag it and watch the base move.
Rights and add-ons: where a deal grows
The base cost buys one organic post. Everything else stacks on top as a percentage of that base — which is exactly how a real deal inflates. The two groups map to the sliders in the tool:
- Ad use — the brand runs the post as a paid ad from its own account. The longer the license (1 month → perpetual), the higher the percentage.
- Whitelisting — the brand runs ads from the creator's own handle, so they look native to her feed. Costs more than ad use because it borrows her identity and trust.
- Organic reuse, exclusivity, multiplatform — reposting on brand channels, blocking competitors for a window, or covering more than one platform. Each adds a percentage that scales with how much you're asking for.
- Content add-ons — Stories, Story Highlights, extra posts, reel-to-grid, raw footage. Each is a percentage of base; the content fee is a flat dollar amount for production.
Set each slider to what your deal actually needs and the total reflects the real scope — not a mystery number a creator pulled from the air.
A gut-check: tier ranges
The build-up gives you a specific number. Sanity-check it against the follower-based ranges the market usually quotes:
| Tier | Followers | Rate-card range / post |
|---|---|---|
| Nano | Under 10K | $25–$150 |
| Micro | 10K–100K | $100–$500 (up to ~$2,500 high-engagement) |
| Macro | 100K–1M | $5,000–$20,000+ |
Rate-card ranges via Influencer Marketing Hub and Collabstr (2026). These are quoted on followers; the calculator is priced on real reach.
If your calculated rate sits well below the tier range, that's usually the point — the follower-based card assumes reach the creator may not actually have. If it lands far above, check the CPM and the add-on sliders before you send it. Either way, you walk in with a number whose work is shown.
The one rule underneath all of it: pay for the audience that's actually there. A fair rate on a fake audience is still money set on fire — which is why a full receipt flags a provably fake audience and tells you there's no fair price to pay.

Frequently asked questions
- How much should I pay an influencer?
- As a reference, rate cards run $25–$150 for nano creators (under 10K), $100–$500 for micro (10K–100K, up to ~$2,500 high-engagement), and $5,000–$20,000+ for macro (100K–1M). But those are quoted on followers — this calculator prices on real reach, so its number can land below the card when the audience is smaller than the follower count implies.
- How do you calculate a fair influencer rate?
- Build it up: price the creator's real reach at a CPM (views ÷ 1,000 × CPM), scale that by a quality multiplier for fit, then stack a percentage for each right — ad use, whitelisting, exclusivity — and each content add-on. That base-plus-upcharges model is exactly what this calculator does, with every input visible.
- How much do nano and micro influencers cost?
- Nano influencers (under 10K followers) typically charge $25–$150 per post; micro influencers (10K–100K) run $100–$500, rising toward ~$2,500 for high-engagement accounts. Both tiers are where a real, engaged audience beats raw reach — so verify the engagement before you pay the rate.
- What are usage rights and whitelisting, and what do they cost?
- Usage (ad) rights let you repurpose a post as a paid ad and typically add ~25–100%. Whitelisting runs ads from the creator's own handle for a separate fee. Exclusivity — blocking competitor deals — adds ~20–50%. These are separate line items, not part of the base post fee.
- Why do two creators the same size charge different rates?
- Because 37% of creators set rates by guessing, and everyone anchors on follower count — the one metric you can buy for twenty dollars. Two same-size accounts can have completely different real audiences and engagement, which is what actually drives value. Verify before you accept a rate.
- Is a creator with more followers worth more?
- Not necessarily. Follower count is easy to fake and a weak predictor of sales; engagement quality and a real, well-matched audience drive value. A smaller creator with genuine engagement often out-converts a larger one with a padded following. Price the real audience, not the number.
